Download Help File

Why would I want to download results?

You may want to download the results for further analysis. For example, tracking when results were actually saved, or tracking the results of individual participants. Using programs like Microsoft Excel you can create your own Management Graphs

.What fields are downloaded?

These fields are included in the download:

  1. Unique ID - this tracks individual users. It is a random number that was given to a computer (cookie value) when it displayed the survey.
  2. Time response was saved - this is the time (EST) that the survey was saved on our server.
  3. Question - this is the actual question that you entered for your survey.
  4. Response - response that was entered or selected by the respondent.

How to save the results once they are displayed in my browser?

Once you have selected the Download option, the results will appear in your browser like a regular web page. This page needs to be saved, and of course depending what type of browser you use, a different process needs to be followed.

I saved my file, now what do I do with it?

Once you have saved your file, you will probably want to import it into a program like Microsoft Excel. As Excel is probably the most commonest program that is used, we will explain how to do it using this program.

  1. Run Microsoft Excel
  2. Click the menu option, File.
  3. Select Open
  4. Change the file types from "All Microsoft Excel Files" to "Text Files"
  5. Navigate to the location / directory where the file was saved
  6. Highlight and Open the saved file
  7. A Text Import Wizard will then appear.
  8. Select the option "Delimited"
  9. Click Next
  10. Un-check Tab.
  11. Check Comma (you should see lines appear in the preview)
  12. Click Finish

Your results will now appear in Excel.

You may see some '########' which means the column is not wide enough for the time field.

Quick free tip - completely free - to widen all columns to the widest cell value

  1. Click the box (see below for graphic) that is above the row number 1 and to the left of the column A
  2. All Cells become highlighted
  3. Select from the menu, Format
  4. Select Column, and then Auto-Fit selection

This is where you click in Excel to highlight all the cells:

Now what do I do?

Once you have the results in a database or spreadsheet you can sort the data and use various tabulating tools to provide further analysis.
